Services and Information

Services Provided

We perform a variety of activities including road construction and maintenance, seal coating, crack sealing, pothole repair, brushing, drainage activities, bridge inspections/repair, shouldering and fleet maintenance operations. Cold mix is produced for blade patches and pothole patching during summer months and also available year-round. These same services are available to Townships and Villages.

Winter Projects

The majority of the winter season is spent performing snow plowing and ice control operations. We also produce winter treating products such as salt/sand, and perform woody vegetation removal.

Responsibilities

The Highway Department is responsible, under the direction of the Infrastructure Committee, for all county trunk highways. It is the duty of this department to assess and make all necessary decisions for the establishment, construction, improvement, engineering, and maintenance of these highways.

Under Chapter 83 of the Wisconsin State Statutes, the County is responsible for the maintenance of 220 miles of county roadways and 233 lane miles of state roadways.

Department Goals

Our goals are to increase the overall quality, and ensure safety of county highways while reducing overall maintenance costs by researching and implementing new technology in equipment and road maintenance methods.
