Digital Parcel Mapping
Burnett County started digital parcel mapping in 1988 and since then has made a lot of progress with over 33,000 parcels mapped. We start out by re-monumenting where the original Government section corners were set before we parcel map each section. Along with parcel maps the County also has aerial photos from 1998, 2006, 2009, 2015, 2018 and our most recent flight was done in the spring of 2020. We are planning on another flight being done in the spring of 2022. The parcel maps can be overlaid onto the aerial photos for analysis purposes.
GIS
Burnett County's Geographic Information System (GIS) is a very important tool that the Land Services Department maintains. A GIS allows the user to do more than just graphically display data, but also do queries and analysis by incorporating other related information such as tabular data to make intelligent decisions.
Technology Benefits
This technology is a real asset in not just emergency situations, but also a time saver in day-to-day analysis for others that use this investment.
